US Web Hosting Company Suffered Outage
One of the largest web hosting companies in the world, Bluehost, has suffered a major network outage, which affected thousands of websites and many customers. The company was noticed in crisis mode on Twitter, where it was trying to reassure users that its experts are continuing to implement a solution and working to fix the problems.
The web hosting company has earlier claimed that the websites were returning back online, but Twitter appeared to awash with complaints, with more and more emerging in every few seconds. The company tried to explain that there was some unexpected issue while its specialists were performing maintenance on the network. Bluehost promised everyone that their accounts would be available in “next few minutes”, but this never happened. In response, some customers were threatening to leave the company.
Bluehost is owned by Endurance International Group and ranked in the top 20 largest web hosts, collectively hosting almost 2 million domains with its sister companies, HostMonster and FastDomain. Actually, even Bluehost’s own official website went offline. Security experts suggest that Bluehost has suffered a massive DDoS attack, but it hasn’t been confirmed. Although Bluehost has been apologizing every minute or so, it didn’t help to solve the outage problem.
