Image
#AlabamaFootballvsAuburninIronBowl2021 Alabama vs. Auburn score, takeaways: No. 3 Tide complete comeback, survive first OT in Iron Bowl history No. 3 Alabama completed a rally for the history books to knock off Auburn, 24-22, in four overtimes on Saturday night. The first game in Iron Bowl history to continue past regulation started with the Crimson Tide trailing 10-0 until midway through the fourth quarter. However, the Tide finally scored their first touchdown with 24 seconds left to force overtime, where the scoring continued. Once there, the teams traded touchdowns in the first OT period and swapped field goals in the second to set up a battle of two-point conversion plays beginning with the third OT. After they each converted their first attempts, Alabama won the game in the fourth OT when wide receiver John Metchie III hauled in a pass from quarterback Bryce Young. A pass from Auburn QB T.J. Finley pass fell incomplete on the previous play. Young struggled in the first half again...

Carson Wentz 'surprised' Eagles pulled off game-winning TD to Boston Scott

Image
After giving up a lead and getting down by 11 points with under seven minutes left in the fourth quarter to the one-win New York Giants, Carson Wentz rallied his squad. Sitting at first-and-goal from the 18-yard-line following a penalty by Pro Bowl center Jason Kelce with 46 seconds remaining, the Eagles needed a touchdown. Wentz delivered his best pass of the season. The Eagles QB, who had been underwater all game behind a sieve offensive line, stepped up in the pocket and dropped a dime to running back Boston Scott running a downfield route out of the backfield. Listed at 5-foot-6, Scott corralled the pigskin with one arm while gracefully falling toward the end zone. TD, Eagles: 22-21 lead. "He wasn't the primary read on that play," Wentz explained after the win, via the team's official transcript. "The way it happened -- I stepped up in the pocket -- and [Giants S Jabrill Peppers] had pretty good coverage. But [I gave] Boston a chance there to make...

Prison term issued after appellate court denied bid for a new trial; guilty verdict rendered in july SAN JOSE — Former San Francisco 49ers star Dana Stubblefield was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Thursday for raping a prospective babysitter at his Morgan Hill home five years ago. The sentence was issued by Judge Arthur Bocanegra after denying a defense motion for a new trial. Last week, the Sixth District Court of Appeal denied a related petition filed on behalf of Stubblefield by his attorneys Kenneth Rosenfeld and Allen Sawyer, who plan to appeal their client’s conviction. In July, a jury found Stubblefield guilty of raping, with the threat of a gun, a woman — identified in court as Jane Doe — who had come to his home to interview for a babysitting job on April 9, 2015. Stubblefield was also convicted of forcible oral copulation and false imprisonment. He has been held in the Santa Clara County Main Jail since the verdict. During the trial, Deputy District A...

Rudy Giuliani Denies He Did Anything Wrong in New ‘Borat’ Movie 3h ago President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Still photos and descriptions of the scene from Mr. Cohen’s new “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” which will be released on Friday, were posted on social media early Wednesday after The Guardian reported that the movie contained “a compromising scene”featuring Mr. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor. Enough With the Chris Discourse 2020

Image
Enough With the Chris Discourse 3h ago Here we go again. Two weeks away from the election, and the nation is gripped by a divisive, political discourse; one that comes around cyclically, as if by constitutional mandate. Twitter wants to know: Who is the “worst Chris”? The question refers, of course, to the white Hollywood Chrises who star in mostly Marvel superhero blockbusters (the exception being  Star Trek and  Wonder Woman  Chris, Pine ). It feels redundant to even outline the concept, so ubiquitous is the worst-Chris discourse — or Chriscourse. Every few months, someone makes the same revelation, that gee, there sure are a lot of often-shirtless white dudes named Chris working in movies nowadays. They are:  Hemsworth , the Australian one; Evans, the  nude-leak one ; Pine, the aforementioned one; and Pratt, the more conservative one. Still, as though she were the first person to realize that “ew,  moist  sure is a gross word, isn’t it?,” TV writer ...

US offered mediating role in 'raging border dispute' between China, India: Trump

Image
Sputnik 6:09 PM | May 27, 2020 The border dispute between India and China intensified earlier this month after the two neighbours became involved in a physical altercation over infrastructure development along the Line of Actual Control. US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to inform India and China about Washington's readiness to mediate their border dispute. This comes amid a standoff between India and China that has intensified in the past few weeks after New Delhi started construction of a key road along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. China accused the Indian Army of crossing into its territory and "attempting to unilaterally change the status" of the LAC in Sikkim and Ladakh. Both countries have reinforced troops on the border amid the ongoing standoff.  China's ambassador to India, H.E. Sun Weidong, has commented on the current escalation of tensions between the two countrie "We should adhere to the basic judgmen...

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli vowed to battle their cases to trial. They had lots of reasons to plead guilty.

Image
Analysis: The corona virus pandemic is a bad time for the world, but a good time for those facing sentencing. "Full House" actress Lori Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, have agreed to plead guilty to charges for their part in a massive college admissions scandal, according to a government filing in the case Thursday. It was only a matter of time. Most federal criminal defendants don't go to trial, but those who do are often found guilty. It’s why so many people charged with white collar crimes rush to the courthouse to plead guilty immediately after they are charged. It’s not necessarily because they believe they are guilty; they usually believe they are innocent. More often, defendants want to avoid the prolonged agony of a trial, minimize their prison time, and get the whole thing behind them. Some defendants, such as Loughlin and Giannulli, vow to battle their cases all the way to trial. They say this in the b...
